Green Roof (Grass Roof) System
POTTÞÉTTÞAK ehf. installs professional green roof systems designed for durability and suitable for Icelandic weather conditions.
Step 1 – Waterproof Membrane Installation
First, the roof is fully waterproofed using two layers of roofing membrane (Takpappi or equivalent). The membrane is installed using the gas torch method to create a strong waterproof barrier.
Step 2 – Protective Fabric Layer
After the membrane installation, we install one protective layer of fabric (Drukur) over the waterproof membrane to protect it from damage.
Step 3 – Water Retention and Drainage Layer
Next, we install another fabric layer designed to help with water retention and proper drainage for the green roof system.
Step 4 – Growing Layer Options
Depending on the project requirements, the green roof can be installed in two different ways:
- Option 1: Two layers of natural grass (turf).
- Option 2: One layer of sand and one layer of natural grass (turf).
If sand is used, it is charged separately per cubic meter (m³) depending on the amount required.
Step 5 – Final Grass Installation
The final grass layer creates a natural green roof surface that provides insulation, protects the waterproof membrane, and improves drainage performance.
